Red Sox 1st — Hooper flied out. Shean singled to center. Strunk singled to right, Shean (off with pitch) to third. Shean scored on Love wild pitch. Schang flied out. McInnis flied out.
Red Sox 2nd — With one out, Scott tripled to left center. Agnew hits sacrifice fly to left, Scott scored. Bodie’s throw home bounced over the catcher’s head.
New York 3rd — Hannah struck out. [Hannah and manager Huggins argued with umpire Nallin.] Love singled to left, a sinking liner in front of Schang. Gilhooley forced Love at second. Peckinpaugh singled to right, Gilhooley to third. With Baker batting, Peckinpaugh caught in rundown between first and second, Gilhooley scored. Ruled a double steal; Nallin allowed run even though Peckinpaugh tagged out before run crossed.
New York 7th — With one out, Pratt singled. Pipp forced Pratt at second. Bodie doubled to center. Strunk knocked it down but fumbled the ball, Pipp scored.
Red Sox 8th — Bush singled. Hooper singled to right, Bush to third. Shean flied out to deep center, Bush tagged out on a terrific throw by Miller. Hannah got it on the fly and tagged Bush for a double play. Hooper advanced to third. Strunk flied out to deep right, Gilhooley leapt against the wall.
New York 10th — Bodie doubled. Miller bunted for a hit as Bush’s throw to third was late. Hannah walked to load the bases with none out. Huggins almost sent Caldwell to pinch hit, but kept Love in the game. Love lined into a double play to Bush. Bush’s finger is hurt, but after a meeting on the mound, Bush said he wanted to stay in. Caldwell pinch-hit for Gilhooley and flied out to center.
Red Sox 11th — Heavy rain begins falling. Strunk safe on an error by Peckinpaugh. Schang forced Strunk at second. McInnis forced Schang at second. Hoblitzell singled, McInnis to third. Scott made the third out.
New York 11th — Peck struck out. Baker singled to right. Pratt singled to center, Baker to third. Pipp singled to deep center, Baker scored the winning run.
