Expos 1st: Bergeron struck out swinging. Cabrera struck out looking. Tatis struck out looking.

Red Sox 1st: Lewis flew out to center. Offerman walked on five pitches. Varitek struck out looking. Ramirez grounded out to shortstop, Offerman forced at second, shortstop to second.

Expos 2nd: Guerrero flew out to deep right field. Smith struck out swinging. Tracy struck out swinging.

Red Sox 2nd: O’Leary grounded out second to first. Nixon struck out swinging. Burkhart grounded out second to first.

Expos 3rd: Bradley popped out to second in foul territory. Barrett struck out looking. Mordecai walked on a 3-2 pitch. Bergeron popped out to third in foul territory.

Expos 5th: Andy Tracy homered off Hipolito Pichardo.

Expos 6th: After a two-run triple by Vladimir Guerrero, Wilkin Ruan walked. Ruan and Guerrero completed a double steal, with Guerrero scoring on the throw to second. Ruan later scored from second on Milton Bradley’s single. [During the inning, Jason Varitek tried to gun down Peter Bergeron stealing second. Neither the shortstop, Lansing, nor the second baseman, Craig Grebeck, covered the bag on the throw.]

Expos 7th: Orlando Cabrera knocked in two runs with a triple.

Ramirez went 1 for 3, singling in the fourth inning to end an 0-for-13 streak. He is at .120 (3 for 25) with one RBI and no extra-base hits.

Yet Ramirez was no terror last spring either, hitting .232 (13 for 56) with two homers and 13 RBIs in 23 games, before going on to hit .351 with 38 homers and 122 RBIs in the regular season.

Offerman left the game after the fifth inning with tightness in his left groin. The injury is not believed to be serious.
