Blue Jays 1st: Castillo retired the side 1-2-3.

Blue Jays 2nd: Castillo retired the side 1-2-3.

Blue Jays 3rd: Castillo retired the side 1-2-3.

Blue Jays 4th: Shannon Stewart led off with a single to left. Alex Gonzalez’s easy double-play grounder was booted by shortstop Craig Grebeck. Raul Mondesi tripled, Stewart and Gonzalez scored. Carlos Delgado hit a sacrifice fly, Mondesi scored. Toronto scored three runs in a four-pitch span.

Red Sox 5th: Veras was robbed of extra bases on an outstanding over-the-shoulder catch by Vernon Wells at the center-field fence.

Blue Jays 5th: Pete Schourek worked a perfect inning on 12 pitches.

Red Sox 6th: First baseman Delgado took an RBI hit away from Carl Everett with a backhand snag of a liner inches off the dirt.

Blue Jays 6th: Wilton Veras dropped a popup for another error.

Red Sox 7th: Brian Daubach doubled and scored on Grebeck’s RBI groundout. Wells came charging in to grab a liner Veras hit with a man at third and two outs in the seventh.

Blue Jays 8th: Gonzalez, Brad Fullmer and Vernon Wells all had RBI singles off Luis Arroyo and later scored.

Red Sox 9th: Daubach singled home a run.

Castillo threw 61 pitches.

Vernon Wells displayed his talents in the outfield with three running catches.
