Partial play-by-play:
Nomo had allowed just one hit in his first three innings of work.
Reds 4th: D.T. Cromer hit a solo home run over the right field wall. A hit and a walk put runners at first and second. Kelly Stinnett hit a 1-2 pitch over the center field wall for a three-run home run and a 4-0 lead. Rafael Betancourt relieved Nomo with two outs and retired Wilton Guerrero to end the rally.
Reds 6th: Stinnett added his fourth RBI when he singled home Cromer against Casey Fossum.
Red Sox 8th: Shea Hillenbrand’s single drove home Angel Santos.
A crowd of 6,200 saw the game at City of Palms Park, the smallest City of Palms crowd to see the Red Sox in Grapefruit League action this spring.
John Valentin left the game after feeling some soreness in his surgically repaired left knee while legging out a double in the third inning.
