George Leslie Cochran 5’9″, 160 lbs., Batted Both, Threw Right Debut: July 29, 1918 |
George Cochran, 29 years old, batted leadoff for Kansas City, the winner of the 1918 American Association pennant. He joined the Red Sox in early August and played all but one of his 24 games at third base.
Cochran didn’t play in the World Series and his time with Boston was his only major league experience. Although baseball encyclopedias only list Cochran as a right-handed thrower, the San Francisco Chronicle of September 4, 1918 also lists his height, weight and batting side.
