Notes:
Rafael Palmeiro hit his 467th career homer in the eighth inning to pass Willie Stargell and Stan Musial for 20th place on the career list.
The Rangers set season highs for runs and homers (six) a day after they had a season-best 21 hits in a 17-6 pounding of the New York Yankees. With 36 runs in consecutive games, the Rangers had the second-highest two-game total in team history. They scored 38 runs in back-to-back games in April 1996.
With seven RBI in two innings, Everett fell one short of the major league record for RBI in consecutive innings. Four players hold the record of eight.
Burkett had his shortest outing since retiring only two batters in a start for the Rangers in September of 1998.
